TRAINING
Good training is a critical piece of risk management and the most effective way to prevent incidents and accidents. Period.
The largest risk factor for the vast majority of the zipline and aerial adventure industry isn’t the structures themselves, it’s the potential for human error of the people operating and participating. The best way to mitigate that risk is to ensure that:
All operators, guides and facilitators have appropriate levels of training
All managers and supervisors are trained and qualified to oversee operations
All trainings are provided by a Qualified Trainer
Training must be provided by a Qualified Trainer at minimum on an annual basis according to major industry standards. This includes both external trainings as well as in-house programs, and ERi will work with you to develop a plan for both, including helping to ensure your internal trainers are qualified and ready to address your day-to-day needs. Training provided by a non-qualified party is ineffective and can actually increases risk. Knowing how to do something is not the same as knowing how to train others to do that thing - they are two separate skill sets.
ERi trainings are led by our Qualified Trainer/Testers, as outlined by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Qualified Course Professional Guidelines. Trainings are customized according to your organization’s goals, and include technical skills, soft skills, and critical foundational knowledge. Skills verifications and written knowledge tests are included to ensure that before we walk away from each site that we have assessed each trainee appropriately and can provide recommendations on their suitability to perform their role.
With all that being said, ERi has its roots in the experiential education field. Our trainings are fun, inclusive, and engaging. People learn less when they can’t pay attention, and people pay WAY more attention when they’re enjoying themselves. We’re pretty fun professionals, so that works out well!
