Kapalua Bridge
The Kapalua Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Hawaii. The bridge is 5’ wide (able to accommodate ATVs). The bridge is 360’ long and rises 200’ above Kaopala Gulch in the West Maui mountains, which also made it the highest pedestrian only bridge in the US. The towers are 52’ tall and made of weathering steel, and the bridge has fiberglass decking. The bridge was installed to provide access to the Kapalua Zipline Tour (also designed/built by ERi), however it has since become a feature on the tour in its own right.
Fun fact: the Kapalua Bridge has four (4) main line cables (1 1/4” each) instead of the usual two (2). This bridge was built in tandem with Sahale LLC, who were in operation from 1992 - 2010.
